From Spain
Yay, school is out for the summer. I ended on a great note, good grades and still alive after finals. I am living in Barcelona for two months, and I must say that I love it ( me gusta muchisimo). I am taking an art and architecture class that deals with contemporary Barcelona. It was very easy to travel abroad through Cal Poly. We have a whole study abroad department headed by Monica (great lady)..... i was able to get a whole list of programs and cities that have architecture classes. She was even able to hook me up to students who traveled abroad in Spain to give me the 411. So anyways, last weekend my program (through CEA), sponsored a trip to Pamplona. Pamplona hoasts the festival running of the bulls. In essence, thousands of people dressed only in red and white crowd the town to watch people run from large mammals. HA! Amazing really, the hundreds of people running from the twenty or so bulls, look terrified the whole time. After the bulls run through the streets they enter a pavilion for a small bull fight. This weekend I will be traveling to Madrid to see some amazing art.

Cal Poly Love
Holla! My name is Michele Slater, I am a fourth year Landscape Architecture student. My journey to CAL POLY started in Walnut Creek, California, as a student at Las Lomas high school. I applied to Cal poly, along with several other universities my senior year as a political science major. Thrilled at my acceptance to Cal Poly, I excitedly decided to enroll for Fall 2004.
College life, freshman until now, has been a blast. I lived in the Cal Poly dorms my freshman year (Sierra Madre) where I met my four best friends. I changed my major freshman year from political science to Landscape Architecture. The switch to a design based major has truly ignited a life long passion.
Currently, I am at the end of my fourth year, life is busier than ever. I am on the executive board for Poly Reps, a member of the ski and snow board club and in the Landscape Architecture honor society. I have four classes, 16 units, the best load for a successful student. I have an upper division Implementation Studio, Spanish , Ancient Literature and a furniture design class ( my favorite). This summer I will be studying abroad in Barcelona for two months and backpacking through 3 other countries.
Next time I will fill you cats in on my recent architecture field trips and the deal on my favorite classes.
Michele
